About Vasse Felix

Vasse Felix is Margaret River's founding winery — established in 1967 by Dr Tom Cullity, the estate planted the first commercial vineyard in Western Australia's now-celebrated wine region. Today it remains the definitive expression of Margaret River's capacity to produce wines of world-class elegance, particularly Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec blends. The Tom Cullity wine, named in honour of the founder, is a benchmark Australian Cabernet that commands international respect.

Our Story

In 1967, Dr Tom Cullity planted the first commercial vineyard in what is now one of Australia's most celebrated wine regions. Vasse Felix, named for the French sailor Timothée Vasse who disappeared near the Margaret River estuary in 1801, has shaped the identity of the entire region over more than five decades of careful, passionate winemaking.

Now owned by the Holmes à Court family, the estate spans over 330 hectares of carefully farmed vineyards across the most coveted sub-regions of Margaret River. The flagships — Tom Cullity Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec and Heytesbury Chardonnay — are among the finest wines produced in Australia. Winemaker Virginia Willcock brings extraordinary precision and vision to wines that honour the estate's founding legacy while pushing confidently toward the future.
