Our Story
Jansz Tasmania was established in 1986 as a joint venture between the Heemskerk vineyard and the Champagne house Louis Roederer — a testament to the seriousness with which international Champagne producers viewed Tasmania's potential for world-class sparkling wine. The Pipers Brook region, in Tasmania's north, offers conditions remarkably similar to Champagne: cool temperatures, marine influence, and a long, slow ripening season that builds natural acidity and flavour complexity.
Now owned by Hill-Smith Family Estates, Jansz continues its singular focus on traditional-method sparkling wines made from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The non-vintage Premium Cuvée is the estate's calling card — a wine of exceptional finesse and consistency that has set the benchmark for Australian sparkling at its price point.
